INSTANTS is a new album by pianist Daniel Levy, devoted to the extraordinary beauty and depth contained in the smallest forms of piano music.

Inspired by composers including Bach, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Brahms, Liszt, Wagner, Grieg and Scriabin, the album brings together a carefully chosen succession of musical miniatures — brief works that may last only a few minutes, yet can contain an entire world of emotion, poetry and thought.

For Levy, these pieces are not secondary works or mere encores. They are “instants” of musical life: concentrated moments in which a few notes can say a great deal, inviting us to listen more closely and to experience the power of the present moment.

INSTANTS challenges the conventional distinction between “major” and “minor” works, revealing how a short piece can possess the same artistic and emotional depth as a monumental sonata or concerto. Heard in succession, these miniatures create a unique cumulative experience — a journey through contrasting expressive worlds, each one complete in itself.

More than a collection of short pieces, INSTANTS is an invitation to listen differently: with greater attention, intimacy and openness to the fleeting moments of beauty that can remain with us long after the music has ended.
